In Pics: The gender inequality free fashion show

India Runway Week season 6 in association with Big Boy Toyz is talk of the town as its opening show was named as Fashion Startups of India and for the first time in Fashion trade event of this level witnessed eight young designers flaunting their ready to wear summer 2016 collection. These eight cream designers were Megha and Jigar, Vishala Shree, Ankita and Akshita, Vanica Chhabra, Rahul Kapoor, Bani Pasricha, Fahd Khatri and Sanya Garg.

Breaking stereotypes, this fashion show was full of surprises. When a 16 year old cancer patient, Chesi Anne Basil came walking like a confident supermodel, everyone present over there couldn’t stop themselves giving a standing ovation to her as it was her wish to walk as a model to give inspiration to people like her who are fighting with such deadly disease. She asked every cancer patient to celebrate life.

Laxmi Narayan Tripathi, the famous transgender right activist dazzled the ramp with actress Mandira Bedi for jewelry designer Akassh K Aggarwal. Aggarwal addressed media saying that in this male dominated society, females and LGBTs are facing many untold social and personal issues, his new collection is here to spread words of gender equality.

The show was gleamed with some famous names like Shriya Saran, Aditi Gowitrikar, Neha Dhupia, Singer Sukhwinder Singh, Union Minister Babul Supriyo, wrestler Suman Kundu etc.

Label d&n by designer Dheeru Sagar and Nitika Kanodia made the silhouettes their inspiration and showcased a summer collection keeping modern Indian woman in mind.

Sonya Shukla came with first edit which is a winning blend of western silhouettes stuffed with traditional handcrafted workmanship and modern patterns splayed across conventional Indian garments.

Yashika Tejwani’s The Label is for the modern, independent woman who is also deeply rooted in tradition. This collection does not follow a fashion trend in particular but is inspired from various cultures of India.

Designer duo Rashmi Shrivastav and Devleena Mazumdar displayed a collection which was focused into making all flow in the authentic essence of India and naturally, it was holding the roots of India but was modern in touch. This ready to wear collection truly goes with the current fashion trend.
