Review: The Gateway Resort Damdama Lake

Summers are at its peak in Delhi. It’s difficult to even step out of the house in this scorching heat and travelling for long hours in a car seems to be an impossible mission. You  check the weather of the weekend getaways near Delhi like Jaipur or Agra , the temperature is close to 40 degrees Celsius  and since the summer vacations are going on so hill stations are crowded and super expensive too.
But since we live in the capital city so we have plenty of good resort options near Delhi where we can relax and enjoy at the same time. If you follow us on Snap Chat (if you don’t then do it now. Id: Allaboutwomen1) you must be aware that Team AAW was at one of those resorts near Delhi, the Gateway Resort Damdama Lake Gurgaon, a few days back.  It was a personal trip with friends and we all had a great time. Here is my review about the beautiful resort.
Taj Resorts, Damdama
Taj Resorts, Damdama
Room:  There are three categories of room- Superior resort room, Deluxe resort room and Gateway suites.
Spacious rooms
Spacious rooms
The superior resort room: Located above the Deluxe resort room , they have both king size as well as single beds option with all necessary amenities like hair dryer, tea/coffee maker, 40 inc LED, shower cubicle etc.
Deluxe resort room: The room is almost similar to the superior resort room but since it on the lower level it has a garden sit out area as well.
Gateway suites: Since its a suite so its bigger than the above two rooms and has a spectacular garden view. The interiors of these rooms are tastefully done blending the traditional with modern touches. It has a  bathtub too.
Greenery Around

Bathrooms: The bathroom is very spacious and clean with all Biotique toiletries in all three categories. But the only disadvantage is that the open cupboard and bathroom have been combined into one because of which you cannot access the wardrobe till one of you is in the bathroom. The locker is right next to the basin.
Service: Right from the check in to the check out we didn’t face service issues from any department. The room service, house keeping and other supporting staff were polite, courteous and efficient. They have a 24X7 room service with a limited menu though but its nice and sufficient to satisfy your hunger pangs at midnight.
Price: The basic room with american plan would cost you INR 15700 including all taxes and if you insist they can upgrade it to Deluxe resort room too.
Food: The buffet at Buzz is good with ample variety for both vegetarian and non vegetarians. There are live pasta, seafood etc counters too. There are plentiful.varieties  of desserts and salads too in the buffet. Drinks are not included in the buffet but at times they offer few in the buffet only. The alacarte menu is a mix of everything from Indian to Chinese to Italian. There is a Chinese restaurant and a bar too.
Spa: The spa offers very basic and limited massages but the the best part is that they are quite decently priced. Don’t go keeping very high expectations as they have very basic massages like foot, deep tissue, arm and back to name a few.
Wifi: They have a free wifi in the room.
Kids play area

Activities:  There is a play area with toys for the toddlers but there is no support staff or helper to look after the kids so you can’t leave them alone.  Many of the adventurous activities like Zip-lining, Rappling, Paint Ball, ATV etc are paid. But there are different packages where in you can pick different  number of activities. ATV ride would cost you INR 1400 for 10 rounds and INR 1800 on Aravallis for one hour. Cycles are for free. There is horse ride too but that is chargeable INR 250/kid. They can arrange karaoke, Day & Night Cricket or Football, DJ night etc but it will will cost you between INR 7000-10000 depending on the activity. They are swings for the kids too.
Swimming Pool
Swimming Pool
Swimming Pool: The pool is divided into three section. Two for kids and one for adults but the bigger one is also just 4 feet deep so its more for fun rather than swimming.  They don’t have lot of swimming gear option for kids so better carry one.

Few tips:
The way to the hotel is not that safe in night so avoid travelling late night.
Since there is lot of greenery around so you might find some reptiles, worms etc in your balcony or the garden premises.
After 8 pm there are no activities in the hotel.
Ask for an early check in so that you can enjoy the activities in the resort.
There is a fitness centre too.
Go for a morning walk and enjoy the clean and fresh air and the chirping of birds.
