Travelling is fun, but if you are prone to motion sickness, it might be difficult. It is a very common disturbance of the inner ear that is caused by repeated motion. Motion sickness is of different types like carsickness, seasickness, airsickness and spinning sickness and starts with nausea followed by vomiting and even more. While it may be impossible to prevent motion sickness, the following tips can help you lessen the severity of motion sickness:

  • Take light meals

Do not travel empty stomach, have a light meal an hour before you start traveling. An empty stomach might create acidity, nausea and vomiting. Also avoid consuming alcohol, heavy and spicy foods before traveling as they can worsen your motion sickness.

  • Treat it with ginger

Ginger Is the best root to treat the effects of motion sickness. Don’t forget to keep it with you while traveling. Drink ginger tea or add ginger to boiling water and drink it throughout traveling. If you can’t do this then keep sniffing a slice of ginger wrapped in tissue. This remedy will surely work.

  • Choose the right seat

Doctors suggest that your body and eyes must see and feel the same thing while traveling to avoid motion sickness. While traveling in the car try to sit on the front or window seat. The fresh air will improve your condition and make you feel relaxed. Do not sit facing backward while traveling.

  • Focus on something else

Distractions can be a great help to you. Stop thinking about nausea and listen to music or play a game with your fellow passengers. Also avoid reading.

  • Biscuits

Traveling empty stomach can be harmful, so keep on snacking crackers or biscuits. This will prevent gastric issues from building up in the stomach.

Stay away

Isolate yourself from others who may be suffering from motion sickness. Hearing others talk about motion sickness or seeing others becoming ill can sometimes make you feel ill yourself.
