Cannes 2025: Urvashi Rautela Trolled Online for Carrying Parrot Clutch

Urvashi Rautela Turns Heads — and Triggers Trolls — with Parrot Clutch at Cannes:

Urvashi Rautela, known for her daring and unconventional fashion choices, turned heads on the opening day (May 13) of the 78th Cannes Film Festival. She graced the red carpet for the screening of Partir un jour (Leave One Day) in a dramatic, multi-colored structured gown in bold hues of blue, red, and yellow. But what truly set the internet buzzing was her crystal-studded, parrot-shaped clutch by luxury designer Judith Leiber — reportedly priced at $5,495 (around ₹4.68 lakh).

Popular fashion commentator Diet Sabya shared Urvashi’s Cannes look on Instagram, and the comments poured in. One user quipped, “Giving ‘Moulin Rouge meets Mayur Vihar’ realness.” Another joked, “Is it a satire on camp?” while one added, “Urvashi Devi ready for Jagran.”

A particularly viral comment read, “We want her drag performance on Dabidi Dabidi,” referencing the much-ridiculed song from Daaku Maharaaj featuring Urvashi and Nandamuri Balakrishna, which had earlier sparked social media backlash for its controversial hooksteps.

The 78th edition of the prestigious Cannes Film Festival kicked off on May 13, with several prominent Indian celebrities, including Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Janhvi Kapoor, Sharmila Tagore, and Simi Garewal set to grace the red carpet this year.

The festival’s esteemed jury will present the coveted Palme d’Or to one of the 21 films competing in the main category. The winners will be revealed during the closing ceremony on May 24.
