You can come in contact with a carrier person anywhere, in a grocery store, in a queue, or simply pass by them.  Instead of panicking, make sound decisions to minimize your chances of contracting the infection and passing it on to your family members. Here is what to do when you are exposed to someone who is COVID-19 positive.

Watch out for symptoms

Keep an eye on your temperature and symptoms like sore throat, loss of taste and smell, congestion, diarrhea, and body aches.

Isolate yourself

Home isolation is a considerable option if you have been exposed to a positive patient. The symptoms take time to show so it is best you don’t come in contact with anyone for 10-14 days since the day of exposure.

Inform the people you’ve met

Take responsibility and inform the people you have met in the past few days that you have been exposed to the virus. If you do not develop any symptoms, they aren’t required to get tested.

Get tested

Contact your doctor and ask if it is possible for them to prescribe you a test. Wait for at least 5-6 days before getting tested and stay in isolation until your test results come out negative.

Here are the steps you need to take once you find out you have been exposed to the virus.  Don’t stress too much instead, make sure you take care of your health, have immunity-boosting food items as that will reduce the effect of the virus to a great extent.
