How unity gave us hope & love in Delhi riots!

These little instances are giving us hopes in these dark times of riots:

The recent riots and violence in North East Delhi against CAA have left people in the city burning and sacred for lives. Almost 20 people have been killed and over 150 have been injured in these riots. Amongst all the hatred, chaos and violence, some instances of unity and love have come up from various areas in Delhi. These instances are shedding light on some hopes.

    • Residents of Yamuna Vihar formed a human chain to ensure that school children are escorted safely amidst violence.

    • Gurudwara in various parts of Delhi has open their gates for Muslims and people who need shelter due to these riots.

    • In Seelampur, the Dalit community blocked routes leading to Muslim localities and prevented the entry of rioters in their houses.

    • Hindus and Sikhs in the Ramesh Park area secure their Muslim members that they would stand with them if rioters tried to create trouble.
    • In the Lalita Park area also, Hindus and Sikhs went to their Muslim brothers’ homes and guaranteed them their safety.

    • A local BJP ward councilor from Yamuna Vihar came forward to help a Muslim family and saved their house from being torched by a mob.

  • The residents of Yamuna Vihar shielded sticks and lathis to guard the region against outsiders.

These instance of people opening their hearts to each other is a ray of hope in these dark times.
