Things we NEED to unlearn ASAP as Indians

Check out the list of things We learned As kids Growing Up In India that we need to unlearn ASAP:

While growing up in India, we picked up some habits that must be changed, some of these habits are known to us, whereas others are just imbibed within us that we don’t even question them. Growing up in Indian culture means learning a few things that we don’t want to know. Here is the list of things We learned As kids Growing Up In India that we need To unlearn:

  • There are only two genders – male and female.

If you say that there are only two genders, you are ignoring the existence of billions of people. And it is outdated as well.

  • Women should leave their homes and stay with their husbands’ families after marriage.

It is not necessary for a woman to leave her parents’ home and stay with her husband.

  • Using the words Chandal, Mlecchas, Chamar, etc as insults.

If you use these words, you are sexist, so stop using them.

  • You should not interfere if someone is beating their wife up because Ghar ka maamla hai.

Call the cops, because this Ghar ka maamla is violence.

  • Do not talk back to your parents/teachers/relatives, etc.

You should always, always talk back when you realize that your elders are wrong and make them understand why.

  • One-sided love is the best form of love because…

You need to stay away from people who don’t want to love you.

  • A woman should also consider maan-maryada-traditions etc before you making a decision.

You don’t have to depend on outdated traditions to make any decision. Just do what you feel is right.

  • Mothers eat after everyone else.

There is no such rule

  •  Calling someone gay is an insult.

No, it is absolutely fine.

We need to change these things.
