Nanital is also called the city of lakes; this screen hill station is picturesque and has fabulous scenic beauty. Lakes, mountains, greenery and snow make it a perfect place to enjoy a weekend with friends or family. Like other hill stations, it also offers some good brands, shopping and food joints.  The place is mostly visited by families so almost all restaurant specialise  in Indian and Chinese cuisine though Italian and continental are also available but we suggest you to stick to the popular recipes and don’t expect much. If you are planning a trip to Nanital, here are few eateries to try.

Machan: If here do try the melt in the mouth cheese omelette for breakfast but it is only available from 10 am to noon. You can also try the chicken or shrimp filling. Avoid baked beans with bread because it more of a desi version with lots of garlic and ginger.  Pizzas are avoidable. Chinese and Indian fare is mouth-watering. Beside food, service and the view of the gorgeous lake is the USP of the place. The portion size is also good. The washroom is clean and hygienic.

Embassy: This multi cuisine restaurant has a lot to offer from sizzlers to pizzas. The Panner tikka and Chicken tikka are amazing. If here do try the Chicken Hyderabadi  biryani, Kadai Chicken and Butter Chicken.  The service is quick and the portion size is also good.

Royal Kitchen: Located on the mall road this eatery too offers similar cuisine but the interiors are good.  The chicken club sandwich is pathetic. The stuffed naan, Dal makhani, Chicken tikka are delectable. The milkshakes are average and avoidable.

Sakley’s:  With its branches in Delhi and London too, it is a bakery shop cum restaurant. The interiors are nicely done and the menu is elaborate. If here do try the honey gazed chicken, it is little sweet but very delicious. You can also pick from Indian, Chinese, Thai, Italian and Continental.  Their rolls are delicious but a tad bit oily. The pastas can also be given a miss. The Mint Mojito goes well with the food other drinks are also good. The wide variety of muffins, pies and pastries will surely tempt you so don’t forget to order one for dessert. Service is a bit slow.

Sher-e-Punjab: This is a fine dining restaurant with a nice view. As the name suggest, the place offers delicious North Indian food. The service is good and so is the food. If here don’t miss Murg Malai Tikka, Butter Chicken and dal makhani

Guru Nanak Restaurant: A delight for the vegetarians. The Poori sabzi, channa Bhatura, masala dosa and pakoaras are few good options for breakfast. The prices are reasonable and the service is also good.

Note: Almost all eateries offer same cuisine but service and food of the restaurant may vary during peak season because of huge footfall.
