Food review: Chilis, Ambience Mall, Vasant Kunj

Food at Chilis
Food at Chilis

Chili’s is a multinational food chain which started its Indian sojourn with its first restaurant in Mumbai and the next in Delhi.

Chili’s is located on the 3 floor of the shoppers paradise, Ambience Mall Vasant Kunj. It is bang opposite PVR’s Directors Cut. Chili’s is known worldwide for its authentic Mexican, American, and Italian food. It is the only place that serves buff and pork based fast food. But the vegetarian items stand out too!

Food: It is one of restraints to offer authentic Mexican, American, and Italian cuisine in Delhi. If you love their food you will visit it again and again.

Price: The place is reasonable priced and the serving size is huge. One main course each, plus one dessert is more than enough!

Meal for Two: About 1000 INR (excluding alcohol).

Ambience: Chili’s is made in a fun style American diner from 1980’s with its red and white tiled tables, loud slogans, bright yellow lighting and old style lamps. Chili’s is a fun restraint and for food lovers, it is the kind of place you will enjoy with your family or friends, on a date not so much. It is cheerful and noisy, but not enough to distract you from good food.

Must Try: The menu is elaborate and offers a lot from huge ranch style burgers to tortillas everything on the menu tempts you to try them.  Firstly the coke is bottomless refill priced at 100 INR which is perfect for any aerated drinks lover. We ordered Classic Nachos which were perfect and crisp and topped with jalapenos, cheese, and beans. The sour cream served with them was delicious. The nachos were a tad to oily for my liking but they were too tasty to think about oils.

We ordered their basic Grilled Chicken Burger which is a marinated grilled chicken breast topped with smoked bacon, lettuce and tomatoes. In a super soft bun and drizzled with honey mustard dressing this is a sure shot favourite. The bread is soft, the chicken succulent and the bacon perfectly smoky. The other burger ordered was Oldtimer, which is supposedly a cult Chili’s favourite, the Oldtimer is a tenderloin based burger and for our friend it was instant love. The side with both the burgers was a huge pack of fries which can be a meal in themselves. We also ordered a Chicken Fajita Quesadillas which is butter tortilla stuffed with chicken, jalapenos and loaded with cheese on top. They are served with rice and beans. We all loved it especially with the sour cream.

For desserts we ordered a Chocolate Chip Paradise Pie which was bit of a disappointment, there was no chocolate all I could taste was nuts and ice cream. But then after such a great and heavy meal dessert was not on top of my mind.

PS, They are child friendly and give children a special activity book and crayons and they have a whole kiddie menu for kids!
