Food review: Pabrai’s fresh & naturelle ice cream

Flavours at Pabrai's

What can be better than reviewing an ice cream place on a hot, humid Monday when you are pregnant and crave ice cream the most? Well, nothing!

And imagine the delight when the ice cream is fresh, creamy and natural. Pabrai’s is located in CP next to the Kaka, Bhape dabhas and is a popular night hang out for many. As for me this was the first of many visits to this yummilicious place. Here’s my review of Pabrai’s:

Ambience:  It is like a typical ice cream place made of white tiles and there are two huge coolers filled with options galore.

Food: The ice creams are based on natural ingredients and most of them have a unique flavour. Their seasonal fruit ice creams like Alphonso Mango, Jamun, Melon are all subjective to the season.

Price:  About 80 to 120 INR for a scoop. They also have a 500 ml tub option in case you want to take ice cream home.

Service: The staff is friendly and will let you try and help you decide which flavour to pick. The service is quick.

Must try: All the flavours are unique in their own right. From the fresh fruit based ones like watermelon which feels like a burst of freshness to their special flavours like Nalen Gur and fun ones like Bubblegum. Here are some of the flavours I loved and would suggest you to try:

Jamun: Jamun was the most different natural flavour I have come across. It was creamy and sweet and sour much like a Jamun and there were small pieces of Jamun in it which added to the flavour of this ice cream.

Bubblegum: I so wanted to try it as this was a fun flavour and the ice cream was pink in colour. It tasted like a chewing gum should only colder and it had specks of bubblegum to make it a real thing.

Chandan: Chandan is a beautiful fragrant flavour. It makes you feel cool instantly and the burst of that sweet fragnance and cooling feel of chandan truly make it a summer delight.

Paan: This one is a sure shot winner. I suggest everyone to serve this post an important dinner. A paan lover will love this ice cream. It is velvety and the flavours are strong. The ice cream has saunf, paan patta which you can taste and feel in your mouth.

Nalen Gur: Based on gur or jaggery this ice cream is truly divine. Pabrai’s has created this unique flavour and a friend informed me it based on a Bengali flavour. For people like me it tastes like a creamy chikki and the gur syrup topping is out of the world.

Rating: 5/5

Would I visit again: Definitely, now that I have found a natural ice cream parlour in Delhi, I am game for Pabrai’s.
