A regular mane care is very important and for dry hair, you need to put in some extra efforts to make them soft and shiny.  Dry hair spoils the over all look as they are more prone to frizzy and wind blown look. So it’s essential to take few precautions to restore the moisture and shine. Today unlimited options and treatments are available in the market but nothing can beat natural hair-care formula.

Do’s

  • Use hot coconut oil or olive oil to massage the scalp.
  • Always use conditioner on the tips and leave it for some time to moisturise the hair.
  • If your hair is too brittle and dry also use some leave in conditioner or serum.
  • Hair products containing Aloe Vera are also a great option as it helps in moisturizing dry hair and adds shine to it.
  • Drink plenty of water and eat a healthy diet.
  • Use only natural bristles brushes for styling.
  • Try to protect your hair from dandruff as anti-dandruff shampoos are very harsh on locks.
  • A regular visit to the saloon is important to get rid of the dead ends. You need not to go for a hair cut each time.
  • Get hair spas done regularly.

Don’ts

  • Reduce or eliminate use of hairspray, mousse, hair gels and chemical styling creams. Also avoid chemical treatments like hair colouring, re bonding  curls etc as the chemicals drain away all the moisture from hair and make them drier.  Blow drying and pressing should be used on low setting. 
  • Do not wash the hair with hot water as it can increase the dryness of the scalp, resulting in flaking. Instead use luke warm water.
  • Avoid washing your hair excessively and  use a mild shampoo. Make sure your shampoo contains proteins to repair and enrich dry hair.
  • Never go in direct sunlight for long time as sunlight will harm your hair.
  • Refrain from entering the pool without a cap.
  • Trim off dead ends if the hair is too dry.

Home remedies

Mash 2 bananas and 2 teaspoons of honey. Apply on your hair and leave it for an hour and then shampoo.

Beat two eggs add a few drops of lemon juice and one teaspoon of olive oil in a bowl. Apply this mix on your hair and scalp. Let it dry for an hour and wash it off with shampoo.

Mix aloe vera gel and curd in equal parts and apply it on your scalp. Leave it on for about 30 minutes and then rinse your hair with water.
