The award winning film by Anurag Basu failed to garner any appreciation at the national awards. Priyanka Chopra is disappointed with the jury’s decision but is happy that her cousin actress Parineeti Chopra won a special mention at the National Awards for her role in Ishaqzaade.
Barfi was a love story in which Ranbir Kapoor played the role of a deaf and mute person, while Priyanka played an autistic girl’s role. The film was mired in controversy soon after its release after Basu was accused of plagiarism. The movie has won many awards and was considered India’s official entry for the Oscars 2013.
