Kangana Ranaut slams Alia Bhat for her new bridal advertisement:

We can say that Kangana Ranaut is an observer of the Bollywood industry and she never shies away from speaking about her opinions. Recently she took a dig again at Alia Bhatt who has landed herself into controversy for her latest bridal advertisement. She is getting slammed by the people as the ad questioned the tradition of Kanyadaan a Hindu tradition in which the bride’s parents give away their daughter to the groom. The ad is for Mohey, a Manyavar brand.  Taking a dig at this Kangana posted on her Instagram and wrote a lengthy post. Check it out below:

Kangana wrote, “We often see a martyr’s father on television, when they lose a son on the border, they roar ‘Don’t worry, I have one more son, uska bhi daan main iss dharti Maa ko dunga. Kanyadan ho ya putradan, the way society looks at the concept of renunciation shows its core value system…”

She added, “The way a society looks at the concept of (lack of equivalent word in English or Urdu using) renunciation shows it’s core value system… When they start to look down upon the very idea of daan… Then you know it is time for the reestablishment of Ram Rajya… The King who renounced everything he loved only to live the life of Tapasvi (Monk) Please stop mocking Hindus and their rituals.”

She concluded it by saying: “Dharti and Woman both are mothers in scriptures they are worshipped as goddess of fertility…Nothing wrong in seeing them as precious and very source of existence (shakti).”

Sharing the post she appealed to the brands and wrote a caption that reads “Humble request to all brands ….. don’t use religion, minority, majority politics to sell things …. Stop manipulating naive consumers with shrewd divisive concepts and advertising…”

In the ad, Alia is sitting at the wedding mandap with her to-be husband and tells the viewers how her family loves her a lot but keeps reminding her that she must leave one day for her husband’s house. “Am I a thing to be donated? Why only kanyadaan,”. Many fans like the take on this but others objected to it on social media. Twitter was divided on the ad, and there were different reactions, check out some of them below:

Soon after the ad was released on Manyavar’s official YouTube page, netizens started questioning the brand’s latest ad campaign against the Hindu ritual of Kanyadaan.

This is not the first time that Kangana has spoken against Alia or her work. She has often taken potshots at her, criticizing her acting skills and calling her a member of the ‘nepo-gang’.
