Maharashtra CM announces stricter curbs, says no lockdown

Stricter restrictions announced to contain COVID-19 in Maharashtra.

Due to the surge in the number of cases in Maharashtra, CM Uddhav Thackeray has imposed restrictions in the state and the Janta curfew is imposed from 7 am today till 1 May.

The CM has also said that there is no lockdown but the restrictions are stricter in light of a rising number of cases. Here is what you need to know about the rules during the 15 janta curfews.

  • Section 144 is imposed and no gatherings are allowed.
  • The citizens are not allowed to move in public spaces unless necessary.
  • Public places, services, and activities are closed for now with exemption to essential services.
  • Local authorities can make decisions regarding domestic help, drivers, and attendants.
  • Hospitals, diagnostic centers, and labs will remain open.
  • manufacturing units of masks, sanitizers, vaccines, and other essential medical equipment will remain open.
  • Grocery shops, vendors, dairies, and bakeries will remain open.
  • No restrictions on transport and water supply services.
  • Cinema, drama theatres shall remain closed.
  • Religious places of worship like temples, mosques, and gurudwaras are to remain closed.
  • Private coaching classes are to remain closed.
  • Water parks, amusement parks, and video parlors remain closed.
  • Gyms, sports complexes, and sports centers to remain closed.
  • Malls and other public spaces are to remain closed.

Till now, 3,29,056 have been vaccinated against COVID-19 and the numbers are increasing. So far, 12,78,391 healthcare workers along with 15,58,299 frontline workers have received the vaccine.
