The much awaited movie of the year Highway has finally released. While the trailers were captivating, read on to know if the film is worth a watch:

Cast: Randeep Hooda, Alia Bhatt

Director: Imtiaz Ali

Story: Highway is about young Veera (Alia Bhatt) a daughter of a rich industrialist who is getting all geared up to tie the knot. For a break she calls her fiancée in the middle of the night to take her out for a drive as she is desperate for some fresh air. Initially he is hesitant to drive on the highway in the dark but he finally gives in to Veera’s request. At a gas station she steps out of the car and in no time she gets kidnapped by criminal Mahavir Bhaati (Hooda) and his gang. After being kidnapped she is taken from one state to the other in a truck.

After facing some initial few difficulties, Veera starts enjoying herself her journey with a group of men who are her kidnappers.

Music Review: The music of the film is composed by AR Rahman. Maahi ve is sung by the Mozart of Madras himself and written by Irshad Kamil. The vibrant and catchy number Patakha guddi is sung by Jyoti Nooran and Sultaan Nooran has everything from great  lyrics to good music. Alia too has lent her voice to a song Sooha saha which is very soothing to the ears. Kahaan hoon main sung by Jonita Gandhi is also a good number. All in all the music of the film is brilliant.

Why to miss Highway: You can give it miss too because at few points you cannot really digest few things like Alia enjoying with kidnapper and  missing a chance to flee and not even once we get to see what the family is going through, besides all this no one recognises the daughter of a famous industrialist. It’s too unrealistic!

Why not to miss: Alia Bhatt has performed well in the movie and so has Randeep. Watch the movie to witness the beauty of nature the beautiful Indian highways and picturesque locations. The scenes are shot well by cinematographer Anil Mehta and deserves a round of applause for capturing everything so beautifully. The relationship between Alia and Randeep is unique and their chemistry is great.

Special mention: A special mention about the lullaby (Sooha Saaha) which Alia sings for Randeep. I just couldn’t relate to this. How can you do this with your kidnapper? Secondly Alia dancing to the western tunes in the middle of the highway with one of the kidnappers is plain weird!
