Movie Review: Mary Kom

Mary Kom
Mary Kom

Here comes the much awaited Mary Kom biopic, where Priyanka stands a test as an actor. This is probably one of the most talked about movies released recently and Priyanka as Mary Kom looks like a changed person. Read to know if Mary Kom is worth a watch or not:

Director: Omung Kumar

Cast: Priyanka Chopra, Sunil Thapa, Darshan Kumar

Story:  Your heart will go out for Mary Kom, when Priyanka Chopra as Mary Kom, India’s most celebrated boxer, looks at an old newspaper, your heart goes out to the champion.

Sidelined from the action that unfolds in the ring, Mary, at that precise moment in the movie, not a rookie boxer anymore-two time world champion, to be exact-has no idea as in how to make a living once she decides to move beyond the ring, for a while. “How Do I find a job?”

Clearly, Mary Kom is not about delivering punches but the odds she faces to become the iron lady.

Music:  The music starts with Ziddi hai in Vishal Dadlani’s husky voice and the olny hummable song. The rest are average songs. The only other interesting bit is Chaore, a north-eastern lullaby sung by Priyanka Chopra.

Why to watch:  Mary Kom is an amazingly designed movie with a heartwarming message. Director Omang Kumar deserves a round of applause for his direction and storytelling.

Why to miss: If you can’t handle biopics.

Special mention:  A special mention to the amazing transformation of PC as Mary Kom. She has truly put her heart and soul in this film.
