Movie Review: Mickey Virus

A still from Mickey Virus
A still from Mickey Virus

The original comedy king of small screen Manish Paul gets his big Bollywood debut with Mickey Virus. Much like Ayushman Khurana’s Vicky Donor, Mickey Virus is a small scale film based in Delhi. This film also marks Bigg Boss 7 contestant Ellie Avram’s debut, while she is locked in the house! Let’s see if her movie is  worth a watch or not:

Our Rating: 2.5/5

Starring: Manish Paul, Elli Avram, Varun Badola, Manish Chaudhari, Pooja Gupta.

Directed by Saurabh Varma.

Music: Composer and lyricist Hanif Shaikh has created some unique songs for the movie. Tose Naina is different and the best song from the film. But Pyaar China Ka Maal Hai is not as great and Sajna Ve Sajna Ve is too slow with strong Punjabi vocals that make it unusual. Aankhon Hi Aankhon Ne (Duet) is lovely. The music is a mix of some good hummable numbers and some completely avoidable ones.

Story: The cops are trying to crack a cyber crime case and they hire a super-lazy hacker Mickey to help crack the case. This starts an extraordinary anti-virus which no one can kill.

The Delhi cops, headed by ACP Siddhanth (Chaudhari)  are investigating a case of cyber crime and hackers are getting killed in broad daylight. They suspect a group of hackers but need someone who can decrypt their designs. Now enters Mickey (Manish Paul), unambitious, lazy Delhi lad, whose brain is super fast and his tongue even faster! The cops hire Mickey, but as he tries solving the case he is trapped in a world of deceit.

Why you should go for Mickey Virus: One big reason would be TV’s sweetheart Manish Paul his acting and comic timing are classic add to this confidence and perfect Dilli language. Varun Badola’s act is also impressive,  so is the story line.

Why you should miss Mickey Virus: Though Manish is great but the story line is weak and at times his lines and expressions seem repetitive. Elli looks pretty but her acting skills need a major upgrade and the direction could have been better.

Special mention: Mickey’s gang of hackers is fun from Floppy (Rahgav Kakkar) to Chutney (Puja) you will like them.
