Movie review: Phata Poster Nikhla Hero

Phata Poster Nikhla Hero
Phata Poster Nikhla Hero

Phata Poster Nikhla Hero is a laugh riot minus any storyline. If you enjoy light hearted movies with no storyline as such this will be a great watch.

Our Rating: 3/5

Starring: Shahid Kapoor, Ileana D’Cruz, Padmini Kolhapure and Salman Khan. Directed by Rajkumar Santoshi.

Music: The music of Phata Poster Nikhla Hero is composed by Pritam. The lyricist Irshad Kamil does an average job. The music has some nice numbers like Khali Pili and Dhating Naach. However, the other songs are best described as average.

Story: Vishwas Rao (Shahid) is an aspiring actor who wants to idolises Salman Khan. In fact he loves Dabangg so much he starts pretending to be a cop to make his mother (who drives a rickshaw) happy. He meets Kajal (also called Complaint Kajal) who is a social worker and lands himself in trouble.

Why you should go for Phata Poster Nikhla Hero: It is a through and through Shahid Kapoor film and if you are a Shahid fan go ahead and watch the film for his acting, antics and amazing expressions. The best is Salman Khan’s cameo in the film. Ileana D Cruz looks sexy (even though she is a social worker!). Ileana has proved her acting prowess in Burfi but she fails to get her comic timing right.

Why you should miss Phata Poster Nikhla Hero: It has no solid story line. It might be a fun watch but an actual storyline would have made this film perfect entertainment.

Special mention: While we love light hearted films, Phata Poster Nikhla Hero works only because of Shahid (and Salman’s cameo) but they can’t save this film! Rajkumar Santoshi tried and failed to make a cocktail of his old movies (Ajab Prem Ki Gajab Kahani) with macho movies (like Dabangg).
