Movie theatres to reopen at 100 percent capacity

Cinema halls will now be operating at full capacity in India.

Cinema halls in India have now been allowed to reopen at 100 percent capacity and new SOPs have been shared. COVID-19 safety protocols are still in place that includes sanitization, social distancing, and face masks in public spaces.

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting shared these guidelines after the government allowed the operations to begin at 100 percent capacity. In addition to that, tickets can be collected online and the shows will be spaced in a manner that ensures there is no crowding around the movie theatres.

The rules for the containment zone remain the same as no screening will be allowed in areas that are COVID-19 clusters.

People are suggested to use digital modes of payment to make sure there are minimum contact and fewer chances of transmission of COVID-19.

The counters for tickets will have sufficient windows open to make sure social distancing rules are maintained.

Producers Guild of India, Multiplex Association of India (MAI), and owners of cinema halls were happy to receive the news and expressed their gratitude in tweets.
