Check out the pictures of Notre Dame Cathedral collapsing in fire:

The entire history and beauty of France burned up in flames, as Notre Dame Cathedral caught a massive fire. The roof of Paris’ Notre Dame Cathedral collapsed due to a huge fire. It is reported that the spire of the cathedral had fallen, and the fire had spread to one of its rectangular towers.

It is 850-year-old UNESCO world heritage landmark, and within minutes its spectacular Gothic spire collapsed as orange flames.

The firefighters accomplished to save the shell of the stone structure and its two main bell towers from collapse. The fire destroyed the roof and the spire of the medieval structure.

Around 400 firefighters battled into the night to control the flames, the fire was under control after nine hours of being broke.

Paris fire brigade Chief Jean-Claude Gallet said “we can consider that the main structure of Notre-Dame has been saved and preserved” as well as the two towers.

The cause of the fire was not clear, but the cathedral had been undergoing intense restoration work which the fire service said could be the reason for the blaze.

The whole city is disheartened and saddened with the news. French President Emmanuel Macron has vowed to rebuild Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris. He said: “We will rebuild Notre-Dame because it is what the French expect,” and described Notre Dame as the epicenter of our life” and the cathedral of “all the French”, whether religious or not.
