Review: The July ‘Quick Fix’ Vellvette Box 2013

Vellvette July Box
Vellvette July Box

Vellvette boxes are becoming an obsession. I was excited about receiving two full sized products and since I renewed my subscription and got an extra product too. But my excitement was short-lived as my box did not arrive in July at all! I mailed them to ask if my subscription was renewed. July’s Vellvette box was themed around ‘quick fixes’ to our daily routine.

How it works: You get a Vellvette Box about the third week of a month after you place your order. I ordered for a three-month cash on delivery membership which is currently up for renewal. While ordering you are supposed to fill an extensive questionnaire about your skin type, love for makeup etc. This helps Vellvette customise the box especially for you.

You can order them online at www.vellvette.com

Claims: According to their fan page, Vellvette is your opportunity to discover the best beauty brands at your doorstep. Receive 3 customized luxury beauty & cosmetics samples every month that are handpicked by our experts for you. Plus if you like a product, you can get fabulous discounts by purchasing the full sized products at Vellvette.com. This month Vellvette promised two full sized products.

Packing: The little black box was tied by a pink ribbon. On opening, there was a personal letter detailing that this box was a quick fix box. Inside the box all products were bubble wrapped for safety.

Products received: I received a Sally Hansen Radiant Hand Nail & Cuticle Crème, Nail Bling Nail Appliques, Glitter Mascara by LA Splash in Abyss and Nyassa Passion Burst Body Mist. Also as I had renewed my membership I was entitle to pick one product from the Borcato range and I choose the shampoo.

Sally Hansen Radiant Hand Nail & Cuticle Crème: Is specially formulated with Vitamins A, C, E, Grape Seed Oil, Chamomile plus special light-weight moisturizers. It claims to be the Worlds no 1. I liked this light weight cream, it instantly made my hands soft. Plus I was given a full sized tube which originally costs 775 INR.

Nail Bling Nail Appliques: These are simple application and peel-away nail art. I got a beautiful leopard print. I applied a bright orange and a nail sticker on top. It looked amazing. But a day after they started peeling! So they work best for functions.

Glitter Mascara by LA Splash: I received the shade Abyss, which is a smudge proof black mascara woth glitter and works well for parties, however I wanted a more glittery look which the mascara could not create. The brush is nice and builds lashes, but after two coats it became spidery.

Nyassa Passion Burst Body Mist: The sweet fragrance of the Nyassa body mist makes it the perfect to carry product in this humid weather. The size is also perfect for carrying in the smallest of the clutches. It stays for only about 2 hours and the fragrance is subtle.

Borcato Shampoo was reviewed in the May Vellvette box. (here)

Pros: The box had two full sized products which covers about 1700 INR in themselves! It is a value for money box. There are discount coupons too in case you buy anything from Vellvette’s site. Vellvette is surely upping the ante with theme-d boxes and variety of products!

Cons: A major con was the time of delivery; I got my July box on August 5th by which my interest was almost over.  Also mails about the late box were answered in 48 hours and I had to mail more than once.

And the July Vellvette box was a quick fix box and none of the products seemed to be quick fixes to me except the Nail Bling nail appliqués.

Price: INR 1200 for 3 months.

Rating: 4/5 (1 less for delivering the July Box in August!)
