June Vellvette Box 2013

Vellvette boxes are soon becoming my monthly dose of surprise plus I don’t have to shell out extra bucks I paid for three months and this is my last box before I renew. In the past three months I have got some 12 odd beauty products. This month’s Vellvette box was themed around the holidays and aptly called the ‘Travel Edition’. The Black Vellvette box was replaced by a super cute pink travel pouch!

How it works: You get a Vellvette Box about the third week of a month after you place your order. I ordered for a three-month cash on delivery membership which is currently up for renewal. While ordering you are supposed to fill an extensive questionnaire about your skin type, love for makeup etc. This helps Vellvette customise the box especially for you.

You can order them online at www.vellvette.com

Claims: According to their fan page, Velvette is your opportunity to discover the best beauty brands at your doorstep. Receive 3 customized luxury beauty & cosmetics samples every month that are handpicked by our experts for you. Plus if you like a product, you can get fabulous discounts by purchasing the full sized products at Vellvette.com

Packing: The box was replaced by a pink waterproof toiletry travel bag. On opening, there was a personal letter detailing that this box as a travel edition. Then there was a jute pouch which contained a acne treatment kit and other products were bubble wrapped for safety.

Products received: I received a Just Herbs Advanced Pimple Treatment Kit which includes a facewash, a pimple treatment powder and a facepack, a Coconut and Cream Shower Gel by I Love, and glitter eyeliner by LA Splash.

Just Herbs Advanced Pimple Treatment Kit is perfect for the balmy, humid, pimple-inducing weather ahead. In fact when I went ahead to try it I already had a few zits on my face. The kit contains:

Silksplash Neem-Orange Rehydrant Face Wash: This was mild enough on my sensitive skin and did not dry me out. The fragrance is lovely.

Neempure Arjun–Nutmeg Skin Purifying Neem Pack: Now most of us have tried Himalaya neem pack and this one is a powdered version. It’s comparatively gentler on the skin as you have to make a paste my mixing raw milk, lemon or curd. I mixed some curd and the redness of the zits decreased.

Advanced Ayurvedic Pimple Treatment: This is a pimple treatment powder which like the pack has to be applied mixed with some lemon juice or curd. I used curd (lemon is too acidic for my skin) and the results were great my pimples are subsiding; my skin is still soft and has not dried!

Coconut and Cream Shower Gel by I Love: This is a luxurious, moisturising body wash. The fragrance is heavenly to me it smells of Bounty chocolate! It works as a shower gel or a bubble bath. This is one product I will purchase full size.

Glitter Eyeliner by LA Splash: I received the shade Eclipse, which looked sad on the card but upon application it is black eyeliner with some dark blue glitter. It is perfect for a night out and complements smokey eyes well.

Pros: The box arrived on time. Loved the packaging, I would love if Vellvette makes this their permanent packaging.  There are discount coupons too in case you buy anything from Vellvette’s site. Vellvette is surely upping the ante with theme-d boxes and variety of products!

Cons: None, except the makeup freak in me wanted more makeup products.

Price: INR 1200 for 3 months.

Rating: 4.5/5 (.5 less for not so great eyeliner colour, there were better options!)
