Review: Vellvette Box April 2013 edition

April box
April box

I wanted to try these surprise make up boxes which Vellvette stared in India sometime back. They give you amazing products (some full size and others testers) to try and decide if you want to pick them.

How it works: You get a Vellvette Box about the third week of a month after you place your order. I ordered for a three-month cash on delivery membership last month and was waiting for the first on eagerly. While ordering you are supposed to fill an extensive questionnaire about your skin type, love for makeup etc. This helps Vellvette customise the box especially for you.

You can order them online at www.vellvette.com

Claims: According to their fan page, Velvette is your opportunity to discover the best beauty brands at your doorstep. Receive 3 customized luxury beauty & cosmetics samples every month that are handpicked by our experts for you. Plus if you like a product, you can get fabulous discounts by purchasing the full sized products at Vellvette.com

Packing:  The box was a cute black box with a ribbon on top. Gave me that birthday gift feeling and excitement. On opening, there was a pink packaging that wraps the products in place. There was also a personal letter and information about each product.

Products received: I received an awesome 15 ml sunscreen pack by Nature’s Co called the Red and Green Tea Sunscreen. The sunscreen, SPF 25, is soft and works well on my sensitive skin. It gets absorbed super quick and is non-greasy.

A makeup palette by Motives cosmetics called the Mardi Gras palette. This was an instant hit as it has 3 amazing shadows, 3 lipcolours and 3 lipglosses. I loved the nude eye shadow shade and the coral lip colour. The colour pay-off and staying power is good. It is ideal for travel too.

A 17ml aloe and mint balm by Figs & Rouge. Though I am nota fan of minty beauty products, this one is a multi-purpose balm. I tried it on my dry hands and it worked well.

Pros:  The box has a perfect blend of beauty and skin products. The Motives palette is a good size and the makeup freak in me is super happy! The sunscreen too is an apt product for the summers here in Delhi. All 3 products can easily be carried in the handbag. There are discount coupons too in case you buy anything from Vellvette’s site.

Cons: The box arrived almost towards the end of April. Despite being packed well the balm leaked a bit!

Price: INR 1200 for 3 months.

Rating: 4.5/5 (Can’t wait for the next one already!)
