What is fashion for pre-teen?

Get your child to dress up in vogue!

Fashion has never been more fun than in the life of a pre-teen. Recall those beautiful cute fashion disasters, where she first drew red lipstick over her face and tried draping a sari or when he tried running in his papa’s shoes. It only takes a moment before you know that they are stubborn enough to make their own choices while striding towards adulthood.  This particular age group is all about celebrating and defining the carefree, eccentric and brave spirit. Like every generation, this curious bunch believes in embodying a signature fashion statement of their own. This fragile age is the one that experiments most, observes most, and consumes as much as a teenager- the age they most look forward to.

To boost that little confidence every day, appearing your best before the world can be an added advantage. Usually, when we think about our best attire, we often consider the bright and expensive dresses that we wear on special occasions and during festivals. Like the ethnic wear that your child wears for a school function on Republic Day celebration or attending a wedding. What if dressing was to get simpler but trendier through the inspiration garnered from an ethnic wear?

For many years, ethnic wear has represented the uniqueness of our festivals and cultures, through its traditional pattern of design and styling. Each garment poises a meaningful story of its origin through a particular piece on the basis of its design, use of color tones and methods of wearing.

With due time, Indian clothing has emerged to welcome the demands of global trends even in kids fashion wear, thereby providing wardrobe solutions to the sweet little fashion conscious generation. Particularly for a pre-teen, who is stepping into the world of the unknown: finding the right fashion trend is like setting a personal identity.

Mohita Indrayan, Chief Creative Officer of 612 League remarks, “children today are at a stage where they want to explore and experiment in chic attires and be a part of something important. This is a stage where they learn to grow and adapt to changes.”

Many designers have been integrating the traditional ethnic wear with western wear with respect to the market demands.  Meanwhile, our own traditional attires are also going through a transformation. Tribal inspirational prints in bright colors have been one of the favorites for a pre-teen boy, while a tribal accessory adds charm. Think about those wide, fluffy traditional salwars, which have been toned down to straight pants. The pants are better fitted and stylish to look at. Young girls can effortlessly carry a quarter length pants in light print or bright block colors. Combine that with a cool western inspired kurta with interesting collar, buttons and print, the traditional look instantly gets redefined into a more informal but trendy attire. Again, cropped tops inspired from blouses worn with saris or lehenga tops makes a simple but modern fashion wear.

This fresher version of ethnic wear is interestingly not limited to being worn on special occasions, but has meandered its way to everyday wardrobe solutions. The modern ethnic wear is more atoned to easy movement, brighter colors with stylish looks that can be flaunted effortlessly. Besides, the pattern of embroidery with beads and stones, highlights the ensemble for trendy attire.
