How to wear high heels (perfectly)

Most women fall in two categories one who rock their sky high stilettos and the others who wear ballet flats because they can’t even balance on kitten heels. We at aaw, sadly, fall in the second category. So we started wearing heels a few months back and have succeeded (except that occasional tripping when we have had too many liit’s!)

So here is how to rock those high heels without any pains, cuts or blisters:

Buy support: You must buy any shoe cushioning available. In India Dr. Scholl’s has an amazing range. Pick up party feet or an entire insole. Never wear any heels without them. They make the scariest of heels very comfortable.

Strappy straps: In open footwear straps make all the difference. Pick a pair of sandals with ankle straps which make them easier to manage.

Socks help: In winters wear coloured tights with sky high pumps or sheer socks. Socks or tights provide extra layer of comfort for your feet and reduces the friction.

Keep a spare: For a crazy office day it makes sense to keep a pair of flats or kitten heels for a quick change. Many of our friends always keep a pair of flip flops in the car for driving or commuting via public transport.

Vaseline: The best way to ‘break in’ to you new shoe is to apply some Vaseline inside the shoe near your toes and on the end. (where they always scrape the ankle!)

Patch up: Always keep some bandages at hand when you wear a new pair of heels and might get a shoe bite. A hot water soak at night also helps relieve shoe bite.

So let your inner Carrie Bradshaw out and strut the world in those sky high pumps you always wanted to!
