It’s 1st April the official day to be pranked. On April Fools’ Day and everyone wants the best pranks and with the advent of social media brands have also hopped on to the fooling wagon! In recent years, brands with their social media presence reveal or launch something new to prank their fan base.

This year many brands from Ola to Kingfisher took to their social media to create a buzz about launches that seemed far-fetched. While some fell for their fake products, others realised it’s just a prank! Here’s how top 5 brands tried to prank people:

  1. Ola restroom

Ola tweeted about how they plan to start washrooms under the name Ola Restrooms. These will be new age cabs that will convert into washrooms for those on the go. While the video tries to be convincing, we can’t also deny the fact that Ola comes up with a prank every April Fools’ Day. Check out their tweet:

Mc Donald’s India is a favourite of the masses. On Saturday they tweeted about a ‘Glow in the Dark Burger’. The picture shows a dark green-coloured burger with dark pink patties glowing in the dark and many guessed that it clearly looks like an April Fools’ Day prank.

  1. Kingfisher’s instant beer

Kingfisher also pranked by tweeting that they have launched an instant beer powder! The company’s co-owner Vijay Mallya tweeted, “Introducing Kingfisher Radler! Refreshing, Non-Alcoholic Drink!” They took it further by explaining the new concept on their YouTube channel, “As the leading Beer brand of the country, Kingfisher feels that it is our responsibility to ensure that your beer drinking experience is hassle-free. Presenting the all-new Kingfisher Instant Beer. Just add to chilled water, stir and enjoy the good times anytime, anywhere.”

Lays tries to prank it’s fans every year and last year they played two epic pranks. One about Pepsi flavoured Lays and another about using fingerprint technology to open a packet of Lays.

China-based smartphone maker OnePlus tweeted a picture of an electric car saying ‘Coming soon’. OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei also revealed a teaser image that had a hidden message which reads ‘Yes, we do cars now’.
