Close to the heels of the MMS controversy, beware of of travelling in Delhi Metro as the data released by CISF says that a whopping 94 per cent of pickpockets held are female commuters.

Figures calculated for the first three months (January-March) of 2014 by CISF, who handles the security for Delhi Metro, show that out of the total 126 pickpockets held, 118 were women.

According to CISF this is because women pickpockets have an intelligent modus operandi. They either carry a young child with them or mingle in the crowd so well that you can’t judge their intentions. They surprisingly try to target women passengers only.

Officials securing the 134 Metro stations in the National Capital Region (NCR) of Delhi, Gurgaon, Faridabad, Noida and Ghaziabad say that all commuters on Metro should be vigilant about their belongings.

Surprisingly the figures with CISF for the last year also depict a similar picture.
