Indian Government appeal to abolish Article 370 triggers debate:
Ever since Narendra Modi has been elected as India’s Prime Minister, he had never stayed back in surprising public with his twisting ways for the development of nation. Recently again he shocked everyone by abolishing Article 370 in Kashmir.
What is Article 370?
Article 370 of the Indian constitution gave a special status to the state of Jammu& Kashmir. As per this article all the provisions of the constitution which was applicable to other states was not valid for J&K .Except the defense, foreign affairs, communications and finance any law to be implemented required approval from their government. However now, the Indian government has finished this and included them too with the other states. This means they will no longer have a different government and rules.
Immediately after BJP made this appeal to abolish this article, Minister of J&K triggered debate on this matter. Singh, BJP MP from Udhampur in J&K, argued that the debate would help both the convinced and the unconvinced to understand the advantages and disadvantages of J&K being under this section.
