Demonitization is surely killing us all, while the move is great, the implementation not so much. The queues outside backs are a testimony to the fact. The lines are ling and people more often than not lose patience. I went to the bank after avoiding it for weeks and it was a haggering experience. So here is a list of things you must carry to the bank to ensure a smoother time:

  1. Legal documents: There is a form you need to fill to submit the old tenders of 500 INR and 1000 INR, I got many a photocopies made of this and filled it at home only. That is easier to manage than do it in a queue. Also attach a photocopy of your valid address proof and your pan card details to avoid a last minute hassle.
  2. Pens Often most people forget to carry a pen and then the borrowing game starts. Smart tip: Carry a cheap pen as someone might just borrow it and forget to return it.

Your mobile: The only way to time pass in the long queue is to use your mobile, facebook, whatsapp, listen to a few songs anything that keeps you occupied is a good idea.

  4. A water bottle and a snack: Water is something you will need and carrying a fruit is also a good idea. You will get grumpy and thirsty so water is a essential you want to keep. Some banks are providing water but then you do not really want to skip your turn in the queue.
  5. Your smile: The bank staff is overworked and tired, a small smile goes a long way. Smile and remember to be polite, as the staff is handling hundreds of people and most of them are redirecting their anger on the staff. It is not really their fault and adding to their discomfort wouldn’t do you any good.
