New mum’s need to pay extra attention to their health not just during pregnancy but post pregnancy too! After the baby birth the body is weak so it’s very important to take proper rest and a well balanced diet to replenish the body and feel energetic.  Besides health women also need to take care of many other things including her changed relationship with her husband to looking good.  So Team AAW tells some best post pregnancy tips for all the new mothers:

1.       Daily oil massages for both mum and baby are not only great for skin but are also good for bringing mum’s energy back into balance and for strengthening the baby.

2.       If you had an episiotomy or vaginal tear during delivery, the wound might hurt for a few weeks so take all the precautions to soothe the wound.

3.       In case of a normal delivery sit down carefully and if sitting is uncomfortable, sit on a pillow or padded ring.

4.       It is recommended to increase your fluid intake because of additional loss of fluids. It will also help to flush out toxins.

5.       To successfully produce milk, your diet should never go below 1800 calories daily and your caloric intake should remain in the 2500 range for at least the first two months to establish healthy milk production.

6.       To reduce the risk of infection, use sanitary napkins rather than tampons after delivery.

7.       Try eating really simple and easy to digest foods home cooked food like like soups, stews, porridges, rice and lentil dishes.

8.       You have entered into a new phase of life but try to spare some time alone for your partner too so try to plan some time alone, even if it’s just to cuddle.

9.       Try to avoid eating foods that are too spicy, especially if you are breastfeeding as it can affect your child’s health too.

10.   Ginger is considered very good for the body post labour, so include lots of ginger in your food.

11.   You will probably never be as tired again as during the first few months of motherhood so you also take a quick nap as soon the baby sleeps.

12.   If you suddenly start bleeding heavily again, develop a breast infection, or feel pain in your pelvic region than consult a doctor immediately.

13.   In case of swelling at the perineal area use an ice pack to reduce swelling.

14.   Abstain from alcohol if you’re breastfeeding.

15.   No matter how much you desire that postpartum tummy takes time to lose, so wear patterns as they camouflage and hide the post-prego belly.
