Attending a meeting? Precautions to take for coronavirus

Going to attend a meeting or an event? Check out some precautions to take against coronavirus:

Due to the increased number of coronavirus confirmed cases in countries, the World Health Organization has released guidelines on organizing gatherings, mainly office meeting, and events. Though, the organization also recommends avoiding attending the event until necessary.

WHO says: “All sections of our society – including businesses and employers – must play a role if we are to stop the spread of this disease.”

“Organizers of meetings & events need to think about the potential risk from #COVID19 because: While COVID-19 is a mild disease for most people, it can make some very ill. Around 1 in every 5 people who catch COVID-19 needs hospital treatment,” WHO said.

When you should wash your hands:

  • Wash them after sneezing or coughing
  • After using washroom
  • After touching anything dirty
  • After they come in contact with animal
  • Before having any meal
  • After having a meal

List of precautions to take before going to a meeting or event:

  • Check if you can replace the meeting with a teleconference or video call
  • Advise participants to avoid attending it in case they suffer from any of the COVID-19 symptoms
  • Make masks available for people who are suffering from cold
  • Arrange tissues and hand sanitizers for everyone
  • Encourage the participants to say hello rather than shaking hand
  • Make sure there is a vacant room, in case someone feels ill and needs to be isolated
  • Make arrangements so that any ill person can be transferred to a health care facility quickly
  • Provide detailed information about COVID-19
  • Tell the participants to cover their face while they cough or sneeze
  • Ask people to wash their hands regularly
  • Provide a health hotline number so that participants can call for advice or to give information.
