Dengue Fever Outbreak Is a Major Concern Now

Over 300 patients hospitalised due to Dengue and viral outbreak in UP.

Just when people were starting to get relief from coronavirus, another outbreak in India has become a major concern. Uttar Pradesh has been hit the hardest with dengue and malaria outbreaks and over 300 patients have been admitted to Kanpur’s Lala Lajpat Rai Hospital.

The estimated number also includes children and so far, no deaths have been reported. Here are the important updates to know. 

  • Loopholes are being recognised by the government to help figure out what has led to the rise of dengue and viral fever cases. 
  •  Jai Pratap Singh, Uttar Pradesh health minister is taking up the responsibility to make sure all the necessary steps are being taken to control the spread. 
  • Many hospitals in Delhi have seen a spike in cases of the seasonal flu in children and such cases are being reported daily with numbers being between 50-60. 
  •  Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan shared that  Serotype-II Dengue is an emerging challenge in 11 states. 
  •  adequate stocking of testing kits, fever helplines, larvicides and early detection of cases are amongst the top priorities of the state. 
  • Taking up  IEC campaigns and ensuring methods of vector control has been a top priority of the Union Health Ministry. 

Since the festival season is approaching, the states have been told to ensure that all the necessary precautions are being taken to avoid gathering in congested spaces.
