A woman points out Scotch-Brite’s sexist Logo, Company responds & promises to change It:

At this point in time men and women are standing shoulder to shoulder in every field of work, but certain brands are still coming up with stereotypical and gendered marketing. And now people are standing up against stereotyping with the help of social media. Recently, Hindustan Unilever Limited decided to remove the word ‘Fair’ from their popular fairness cream ‘Fair & Lovely’ after public outrage. Now, another brand has come into the spotlight.

Pushpanjali Banerji took to LinkedIn to share a post about the gendered labeling on a Scotch Brite mop that she saw. She said that it is a problem because “cleaning should not be a woman’s job alone,” and we agree with it. Check out her post below:-

Later, Karthik Srinivasan also took to LinkedIn to re-iterate her point. The guys also talked about Scotch-Brite’s logo that features a woman with a bindi, which in turn perpetuates stereotypical gender roles. Here it is:

The post soon gained attention, and soon after the company’s marketing head responded positively regarding the same situation in the comments section:

Both of citizens received appreciation for using social media productively.

What do you think about this?
