5 things I learnt after using moisturizer regularly

We all often read about how important it is to apply a mosturiser but it is never or hardly followed. I was always a before the bath oil person, but the humidity and sheer laziness never allowed me to follow this perfectly. I would use it one day and skip for a few days only to go back to applying it. However, a few weeks back my skin felt dry, rough and I felt the need to try mosturising daily. So I made a ritual not to skip mosturisers and in one month I  noticed a huge difference in my skin. It is like my skin needed me to do it! Now I wholly recommend using a mosturiser daily. The trick is to use a gel based ones daily and a heavy duty one every few days. Gel based ones are great for summers and work well without making the skin feel sticky.

You skin needs TLC: Our skin is the largest organ and often the most neglected one. The pollutants form a daily basis to sweat decreases our skins elasticity and opens it up to pollutants. So how does this moisturizing work? Moisturising helps by smoothing the skin and making a barrier against dirt and pollution. The best pick is to buy a moisturizer with SPF which acts as sunscreen too.

Why a daily routine is a must: By moisturizing daily it’s like you are feeding your skin with water. It helps to keep the skin hydrated and hydrated skin feels soft and supple.

Scrub occasionally: A heavy duty body scrub, I am currently obsessed with the Body Shop green tea scrub (reviewed here) helps remove the layer of dead skin. Dead skin is also a reason for dull looking skin, skin ailments and darkness in complexion. Scrub every fortnight or weekly if you sweat a lot. Apply a heavy duty moisturizer post scrubbing as the skin absorbs really quick post scrubbing. Pick one weekend shower time to do this.

Creams work better right after shower: Creams applied immediately pst showering have shown me the maximum results. Towel dry post bathing and apply a decent amount of cream. Too thin will not work and a super thick layer will make you sweat. On lazy days, I apply my moisturizer after a few seconds of shower and towel later. But apply a thicker layer if you towel later as some amount shall be absorbed by the towel too.

Applying cream at night is much better:  At night your body gets a change to rejuvenate and the moisturizer is absorbed quicker, I always shower before bedtime, especially on heavy workout days. Plus you do not end up feeling sticky in the daytime.
