Kabir Singh director faces flak over ‘slapping is love’ comment

Check out what the director has to say about the movie:

Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani starrer Kabir Singh has crossed the INR 200 crore mark at the box office and is becoming one of the biggest hits of this year, though it is getting a lot of negative criticism as well.

Sandeep Reddy Vanga the director of the movie came out in the defense of his film. In an interview, When asked about the portrayal of masculinity and treatment of women in the film, he said: When you are deeply in love and deeply connected to a woman (and vice versa), if you don’t have the liberty of slapping each other, then I don’t see anything there.”

When asked if he expected all the negative criticism the film has received, Sandeep said that even Arjun Reddy received some criticism but this was weird. He termed it pseudo-criticism.

The director also said he doesn’t understand why people are generalizing what has been depicted in the movie.

The filmmaker claimed that the women who had said they were uncomfortable with the film had not experienced real love. He says: “I feel that they were never in love, probably they’ve never experienced it in the right way.”

His statements came as a shocker for many people as the movie is already facing too many negative comments.

On the success of the film, he said: “When I started this film, I knew it would be a big success at the box office, but I never thought that the rage would be repeated, and it has multiplied four times now,”.

Kabir Singh is the remake of Telugu blockbuster Arjun Reddy.
