The Met Gala 2025 lit up New York with high fashion, bold themes, and global star power — and this year, Indian celebrities made sure the spotlight was theirs to own.This year, the Met Gala honors Black men’s fashion and craftsmanship with the theme “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style” and a fitting dress code — “Tailored for You.”

From regal silhouettes to futuristic glam, Indian stars like Shah Rukh Khan, Kiara Advani, and several others turned heads and set new fashion benchmarks on the iconic Met steps.

Shah Rukh Khan:

The spotlight undeniably belonged to the Baadshah of Bollywood, Shah Rukh Khan, who made history as the first-ever Indian male actor to attend the Met Gala. Making a grand debut, the global icon stunned in a sublime black suit adorned with gold accessories, a regal walking cane, a statement brooch, and a long pendant featuring the letter K — a subtle nod to King Khan. His striking ensemble was designed by Sabyasachi Mukherjee, who accompanied him on the blue carpet, marking a powerful moment of Indian elegance and global fashion crossover.

Priyank Chopra and Nick Jonas: 

Meanwhile, Met Gala regular Priyanka Chopra Jonas commanded attention on the blue carpet in a striking tailored polka dot suit dress, custom-designed by Olivier Rousteing for Balmain. She elevated the look with dazzling high jewellery from Bvlgari, the iconic Italian luxury brand she proudly represents as a global ambassador. Making her fifth Met Gala appearance, Priyanka was joined by her husband, singer Nick Jonas, adding yet another standout moment to her fashion legacy.

Kiara Advani:

Indian actor Kiara Advani made a memorable Met Gala debut, radiating elegance and grace. Currently expecting her first child, the accomplished star embraced the moment in a striking black, gold, and white ensemble. Her black gown, adorned with intricate gold detailing and a flowing white train, featured a heart-shaped mini plate — a subtle, heartfelt tribute to her journey into motherhood, making her appearance both stylish and deeply personal.

Diljit Dosanjh:

Diljit Dosanjh, the Indian pop star and actor, made a powerful Met Gala debut, turning heads in a regal royal Punjabi ensemble crafted by celebrated designer Prabal Gurung. Embracing his cultural heritage with pride, Diljit channeled the aura of a modern-day Maharaja, donning a pristine white turban, an intricately detailed outfit, and traditional jewellery. His look was elevated by a long white cape inscribed with Punjabi alphabets, a bold nod to his roots, and a ceremonial sword that added to his majestic presence on fashion’s biggest night.

Manish Malhotra, one of India’s most iconic fashion designers, marked his Met Gala debut this year with a look that perfectly echoed the evening’s theme. He donned an embellished cape with structured shoulders, layered over a vest and tie — a sharp, statement ensemble that drew widespread praise across social media for its elegance and edge.

Also gracing the Met steps was socialite Natasha Poonawalla, who once again delivered a high-fashion moment. Wearing a custom Manish Malhotra creation, her look spotlighted Parsi Gara embroidery, blending traditional Indian artistry with couture flair. The designer aptly described her as a woman “draped in an exquisite fusion of armor, artistry, and ancestry.”

Meanwhile, Indian-origin entrepreneur Mona Patel, who wowed audiences at the 2024 Met Gala with her ethereal gown, returned this year in a dramatic Thom Browne ensemble, once again commanding attention on fashion’s grandest stage.

The Met Gala, originally launched in 1948 by American fashion publicist Eleanor Lambert, is an annual fundraising event for the Costume Institute of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Over the decades, it has evolved into one of the most prestigious and anticipated nights in global fashion.
