Welcome to David Dhawan classic nineties style film with some more glitter and a story for the new audience. David Dhawan and Govinda’s comedies were watched by many of us and now David has made a movie specially for his son, of the Student of the Year fame, Varun Dhawan. With his chocolate boy looks, comedy timing and do you think the Dhawan duo can create magic?

Rating: 3/5

Cast: Varun Dhawan, Ileana D’Cruz, Nargis Fakhri, Anupam Kher, Arunoday Singh, Rajpal Yadav, Saurabh Shukla

Director: David Dhawan

Story: Main Tera Hero is an action-packed rom-com and stands out with its vivacious performances, peppy musical and a breezy and unusual love triangle.

Our desi hero Seenu (Varun Dhawan) with his perfectly chiseled body leaves his home town Ooty to go to Bangaluru and get a degree. After getting admission in a filmi college, he falls in love with Sunaina (Ileana D’cruz). Problems start when police officer Angad (Arunoday Singh) madly loves Sunaina and doesn’t let anyone in college talk to her.

Suddenly on a date with Seenu, Sunaina is kidnapped and flown on a chopper to Bangkok as Ayesha (Nargis Fakri) fell madly in love with Seenu on a train ride from Ooty to Bangaluru.

And then begins Seenu’s hung for his love in Bangkok at a drug lord’s (Anupam Kher) mansion!

Music Review: The music of the film is by Sajid-Wajid and they are done a good job as the music keeps the film going. The  lyrics are penned by Kumaar. Besharmi Ki Height, sung by Benny Dayal and Shalmali Kholgade is a popular number these days.  The tittle song Palat – Tera Hero Idhar Hai” has a remixed version too.  Shanivaar Raati is another foot-tapping number with the ’90s feel and a Punjabi flavour in terms of mood and beats. All the songs are peppy and have a fun element in them.

Why you should watch Main Tera Hero: Main Tera Hero has both simple with a small dose of crass double meaning stuff. So here’s to a cleaner comedy after years! One-film-old Varun Dhawan truly owns this film from dancing to fighting he performs with gusto and never goes over the top in his comedy acts. The movie has it’s liberal doses of director David Dhawan’s touches.

Why you should miss Main Tera Hero:  Main Tera Hero has no solid story line, which is the case with most Bollywood comedy films. Nargis Fakri needs to up her acting skills and soon! We wouldn’t recommend that you spend money on multiplex tickets for Main Tera Hero, even if you like mindless comedies this could be a decent DVD watch.

Special mention: Varun has acted really well and his comic timing is also perfect.
