PM Modi’s Birthday: Centre aims the biggest Covid vaccination drive

Today is Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 71st birthday and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has huge plans in store for the face of the party. “Let’s do #VaccineSeva and give him (PM Modi) birthday gift by getting vaccinated those who have not taken the dose so far,” Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said yesterday, asking people to get the shots.

Leaders of the BJP have been asked to promote the vaccine and state officials have been told to double the daily rate. BJP has set a target of 2 crore doses for today and has trained around eight lakh volunteers. 

Further to mark the special occasion, 71,000 diyas (earthen lamps) will be lit up at Varanasi’s Bharat Mata Temple in Kashi. Along with the lighting of lamps, the BJP will also distribute 14 crore ration bags with “Thank-you Modiji” printed on them.

In Uttar Pradesh, where elections are due next year, the party workers will hold a campaign to clean the river Ganga at 71 sites.

As per the ruling party, all gifts received by the Prime Minister will be auctioned on the government website- pmmemontos.gov.in.
