Good indoor ventilation reduces COVID-19 deaths

Here is how a good ventilation system is helping reduce coronavirus death cases.

Coronavirus cases are still on the rise and doctors and researchers are still trying to find the best way to keep the spread of the virus in control. Coronavirus is airborne and people living in enclosed spaces have high chances of passing it on to the ones living with them.

A recent study has shown that spaces with good ventilation and enclosed areas have significantly reduced the number of deaths due to coronavirus infection in Asian countries. The analysis was published in the Asia Pacific Journal of Public Health.

Not having proper ventilation can lead to repeated exposure to the virus hence increasing the risk of infecting family members is increased. It has been observed that people living in European countries spent more time indoors due to winters and that could be the reason that may have contributed to the increased number of deaths.

One problem that India is yet to tackle is living in confined spaces. Staying in close proximity can lead to infection and even re-infection and the rural areas are at high risk due to this factor. Spending time in public places inside air-conditioned spaces has also lead to the formation of clusters hence accelerating the spread of the virus.

Although it has been observed that ventilated spaces have reduced the number of deaths, there is no sufficient data to support it, and is not known for sure.

In other news, India became the first country to report over 80,000 cases in a day, as of 30th August. The number of fresh cases being reported have increased by two times in the past week.
