2017 has awesome long weekends! Here’s how to plan ahead

As the year comes to an end, we all can say that 2016 was a little cruel on us regarding holidays. There are a few festivals or holidays that a person looks forward to. Who had anticipated that Diwali, Gandhi Jayanti and other holidays would land on a weekend?

But not to worry, 2017 is being nice to us. It is packed with long weekends and holidays.

January

Republic day: 26th, Thursday

You can take a leave on the 27th, Friday. Plan a visit to Auli or Kashmir for skiing; go to Dubai for its shopping festival.

Mahashivratri: 24th, Friday

So this holiday gives you a long weekend. Here you can plan a trip to Agra to see the Taj Mahotsav or go to Goa for their thrilling Carnival.

March

Holi: 13th, Monday

As Monday is a holiday, you can use the previous weekend. See the Holi celebration in Mathura or see the coffee flower in Coorg.

Gudi Padva: 28th, Tuesday.

Take a leave on the 27th, Monday and enjoy the long weekend. Visit Sri Lanka’s beaches or go to Rishikesh for some adventures.

Ram Navami: 4th, Tuesday.

Tuesday being a holiday, you can take a leave on Monday and go out for the long weekend. Visit Turkey for some hot air ballooning or visit Tokyo to see the cherry bloom there.

Vaisakhi: 13th, Thursday.

Dr. Ambedkar Jayanti: 14th, Friday.

Easter: 16th, Sunday.

This long weekend can be enjoyed by visiting Phuket for the Bike Week or Mahabaleshwar for its Mapro Strawberry Festival. You can also visit Amritsar to celebrate Vaisakhi.

You can plan an outing for the previous weekend.  Visit Landour to get away from the sun or go to Tadoba to enjoy some wildlife.

August is full of holidays and joy.

Parsi New Year: 17th, Thursday.

Here you have a long week of holidays. You can take a leave on the 16th, Wednesday and 18th, Friday. You can 9 days of vacation which can take you to Ladakh or Uttarakhand for some adventure. You can also visit Austria for the Salzburg Festival.
