SRK’s Son Aryan Khan Makes a Bold Directorial Entry With The Bads of Bollywood-Here’s What We Know

Internet Impressed With Aryan Khan’s Bold Debut Show — Fans Can’t Stop Talking About the Ending:

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan had a proud moment on Wednesday as he launched his son Aryan Khan’s directorial debut, The Ba**ds of Bollywood*, at a star-studded preview event in Mumbai.

The preview of Netflix’s The Ba**ds of Bollywood* teases a stylised yet chaotic world, layered with self-aware humour and a tongue-in-cheek narrative. Described by the makers as “the ultimate underdog story that asks how far you’re willing to go for your dream, what you’re prepared to lose, and whether you can survive a few Bollywood baddies along the way (pun intended!)”, the series promises a fresh and edgy take on the industry.

At the launch event, Shah Rukh Khan introduced the ensemble cast with his trademark wit and charm. The show features Bobby Deol, Lakshya, Sahher Bambba, Manoj Pahwa, Mona Singh, Manish Chaudhari, Raghav Juyal, Anya Singh, and Vijayant Kohli, along with Rajat Bedi and Gautami Kapoor. The cast members also shared glimpses into their characters and spoke about their experience working on this irreverent, no-filter series.

Backed by Shah Rukh’s own banner, Red Chillies Entertainment, the Netflix series was unveiled in front of industry stalwarts. At the showcase, Shah Rukh candidly admitted that he initially had mixed feelings when Aryan shared his idea.

The actor revealed that he was a little sceptical about the concept at first. “When Aryan told me he was going to make a show on Bollywood — that it would be raw, edgy, and filled with a certain madness — I wasn’t sure what to expect,” he said.

“I wondered, is he planning to upload the CCTV footage of Mannat on YouTube?” Shah Rukh Khan joked while speaking about his son Aryan Khan’s directorial debut.

The actor-producer, however, went on to shower praise on The Ba**ds of Bollywood*, calling it “fresh and unique.”

“If I’m being honest, it took me some time to really catch on to the tone of the show. But once I did, I was completely hooked. I’m genuinely very happy with how it has turned out. And not just the show itself — the cast is outstanding. They bring the story alive because it’s the characters that create magic on screen. In Hindi, I’d say — sabne bahut hi dhaasu acting ki hai, performances sabke phaadoo hain,” he said.

The much-anticipated Netflix series follows an ambitious outsider, played by Lakshya, and his group of friends as they navigate the dazzling yet unpredictable world of Bollywood. The show also features Sahher Bambba, Raghav Juyal, Mona Singh, Manoj Pahwa, Bobby Deol, and Gautami Kapoor, with starry cameos by Salman Khan, Ranveer Singh, and Karan Johar.

The series is produced by Gauri Khan under the Red Chillies Entertainment banner, with Bonnie Jain and Akshat Verma serving as executive producers. The Ba**ds of Bollywood* has been created and directed by Aryan Khan, in collaboration with co-creators Bilal Siddiqi and Manav Chauhan, who also share writing credits with him.

Speaking at the launch event, Aryan Khan said: “With The Ba**ds of Bollywood, my aim was to create a world that feels truly alive — a mix of glitz and grit, where ambition burns bright, egos collide, and nothing is ever as it seems. Partnering with Netflix allowed us to bring this vision to life exactly the way it was meant to be told — raw, stylised, and unlike anything audiences have experienced before.”*

The Ba**ds of Bollywood* has been co-created by Bilal Siddiqi and Manav Chauhan, who also teamed up with Aryan Khan on the writing. The series is set to premiere on Netflix on September 18
