India is a ‘tough’ country to express one’s views: Karan Johar

Karan Johar

Recently at the Jaipur Literature festival, KJo  joined the queue of those celebrities who kicked up the storm with their take on the furious intolerance debate in the country. Talking about ‘The unsuitable boy’ his biography, penned by Poonam Saxena, he spoke about homosexuality in films and real society.

Talking to leading daily Karan Johar said, “What do I speak? Revealing anything in present times can land you to jail. I feel really sad because being a public figure you are expected to wheel a certain movement, speak about freedom of expression, which is the biggest joke I believe. Democracy is the second biggest joke.” He outburst admitting he is constantly afraid of being smacked with legal notices. He added further that as a filmmaker he’s is like trapped by everything, be it what he puts on big screen or what he states in print. “I’m afraid that I’m saying something in Jaipur and you never know who will file a case when I get home.” With laughs he added “I have become a FIR king with the things I am surrounded with,” he said, hinting to the famous AIB Roast that landed him in a legal trouble.
