Yesterday Met Gala 2019 took place at New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art. It is the biggest costume exhibition and is known as “fashion prom”. In its event, the most famous faces from the realms of fashion, film, music, and art come together to raise money for the Met’s Costume Institute and celebrate the grand opening of its latest exhibition. The theme of this year’s exhibition was ‘Camp: Notes on fashion’, following which the stars put their best fashion step forward.
The attendees of the ball have shown us that hairstyles, makeup, and manicures are just as important as their clothes while styling their final look.
The exhibit is inspired by Susan Sontag’s 1964 essay that defines camp as “love of the unnatural: of artifice and exaggeration. The night begins with a cocktail hour, in which guests walk the red carpet and explore the new exhibition, before sitting down to dinner and the evening’s performance.
Like always Priyanka Chopra was seen with husband Nick Jonas and Deepika Padukone also walked the ramp. Deepika wore a Zac Posen pink lurex Jacquard custom gown and went for an exaggerated hairstyle. Her fans compared her to a Barbie doll.
Whereas Priyanka was seen in a dramatic look, her entire look appeared to be inspired by Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland. She wore a spiky silver gown with her hair in tight and frothy curls, just like the Red Queen. Her eyebrows were painted grey and her eyes were lined with a white eyeliner. Nick wore an all-white suit and looked like an Italian mafia overlord with his thin, fake mustache.
Cardi B won the award for most massive train at the 2019 Met Gala. The rapper arrived at the red carpet in a huge quilted and feathered gown by Thom Browne. Whereas, Kim Kardashian wins for the tightest dress at Met Gala 2019 she has made her grand entrance wearing a skin-tight dress nude dress.
