‘Veere Di Wedding’ is us all, only a bit brasher

Why Veere di Wedding is actually modern Indian women

Yesterday me and my bestie went for a movie and of course we selected the hot Indian women movie, Veere di Wedding. While most people found this a bit too much, I think minus the privilege of being rich the movie is us all!

Yes the clothes, the gorgeous locales, the big houses and high end cars are things we can only dream of possessing. However strip off this glitter and you will see yourself right there. The struggles are real, whether it is about finding a groom or not having sex because of kids or body consciousness.

While the world is out bashing these Veere, I am all in for them. Despite blatant advertising from Amul to bhujia, they show us how we women take to every situation like water. Weather it is overspending by your in-laws to like their weird dreams about their son’s wedding complete with flamingo dancers, ugly huge jewellery to Indian obsession with pundits and mahurats. The struggles of getting married to the right guy, family issues are all real and TBH none of us have it all hunky dory and despite their Instagram like perfection neither do these leading ladies!

We have all been on one of these boats every now and then. The only character which is grabbing eyeballs in Swara’s drinking, smoking, partying person, but to be honest I actually know such women too who want to enjoy their lives to the fullest. Plus a man doing it on screen would be called heartbroken aka Devdas, but a woman is called loose character.

Honestly lucky are women to have friendships that survive everything because we know how empty our canvas of our lives will be without our bestie. And don’t we all actually dream of an all girl trip to Thailand?
