Bombayla to set archery record at Rio 2016

Bombayla Devi Laishram is a 32 year old archer who is making India proud at the 2016 Olympics held in Rio. She was born in a sports concentrated family in Manipur. She is taking part in the individual Recurve event, where the tip of the bow is bent away from the archer. Her mother teaches archery and her father is coach to Manipur’s handball team. Her family has always supported her all along the way.

She started her career in 1996 but made into team India in the year of 2006. She gain popularity after she won the gold medal at the Commonwealth Games 2010 which were held in India.

Her mother taught her archery in the beginning, but later to improve on her skills she joined the Sports Authority of India. Here she was trained to the level where she competes now.

Her past accomplishments include multiple medals. She also took part at the Beijing Olympics in 2008 but could not win a medal. After that she geared herself up and started working hard.

She will be playing for the qualifiers on the 10th august in Rio. She has been an inspiration for the entire country. We are proud that she is representing our country.
