Kerala has experienced its highest rainfall since 1924 and the state is going through a serious flood situation. The death rate due to floods are rising day by day. The state has witnessed the worst flooding in 100 years and will take a lot of time  to recreate itself.

This effort will need billions of hands and money and as citizens of the same country, we should provide help to the affected ones. People across India have already started helping them by organizing relief camps, donating money and materials to those in needs.

Confused about how ordinary people can help? Check out some ways:

    • You can donate money to the CM account. CM of Kerala Pinarayi Vijayan is providing assistance to the families who are struggling in flood situation. You can make your contributions by visiting their website.

  • If not money then you can donate utensils, furniture, containers, footwear and tumblers to the collector of Kannur.

  • Zomato “Meal for Flood Relief”

You can donate food for the people stuck in flood through Zomato’s Kerala flood relief. They have come up with a “Meal for flood relief”. In this you can buy a meal for people in Chennai, Zomato will add and send meal for the people that are stranded because of heavy flood and rain. The prices are economic and you can buy according to your choice.

    • You can also contribute online through Goonj website and make donations like daily use items and money etc.

  • The FC of Bengaluru has made a request to the residents of the city to help the flood victims. You can provide the asked items at the Bengaluru Football stadium. Check out the details:
  • Paytm

Paytm has partnered with Kerala Chief Minister’s Distress Relief Fund, where you can donate money to flood victims. All you have to do it tap the Kerala Floods icon in the app and you will be redirected to a page where you can add your details and donate.

  • Flipkart and Amazon

Both the websites have tied up with the NGO Goonj so that people can donate to Kerala flood victims. Donations can be made in money which the NGO will further use to procure things such as blankets, mosquito nets, dry rations, toiletries, cooking utensils, tarpaulins and more. To make a donation open the application in your phone and click the banner ad for Kerala donation. You will be redirected to a page where you donate.

  • Bigbasket

In order to specifically donate food to flood victims, Goonj has tied up with the big basket. You just have to click on the banner on the website and you will be lead to a separate shopping page. There you can choose a list of-of dry rations you want to get delivered.

    • Also, you could provide backend help by coordinating and answering to SoS calls.
