After the outbreak of covid 19, several different cases of flu widespread in the world but in the past few days, the H3N2 Virus is threatening people with increasing death rates. With the effect of the virus, a few people passed away; however, as per the Health Ministry, the exact figures of the death toll are yet to be released. Therefore, it is suggested to be precautious at the early stage of its awareness before it gets too late. So, let’s know more about H3N2 in brief along with its symptoms and precautions.

 

What is H3N2 Virus? 

Its Influenza Virus Subtype wherein, an infected person shows the symptoms like fever, cold, cough, headache, fatigue, sore throat, muscle aches and nasal congestion. This is a communicable and fastest-spreading virus that frequently makes a person ill. 

The doctors by the Indian Medical Association have been told not to prescribe antibiotics to patients infected with the H3N2 virus since using it would increase the risk of multi-drug resistance. Moreover, its symptoms last for three days however, cough, cold and congestion last for more than two weeks wherein, the doctor’s prescribed precautions should be followed despite the intake of antibiotics.

How it can be cured? 

The H3N2 virus spreads via air droplets, physical contact or shaking hands. So, it’s better to be physically distant to avoid its spread and this can be cured with frequent hand washing, avoiding travelling, wearing a mask and staying hydrated. It is also advisable to avoid touching your face and rubbing your eyes as it causes a burning sensation. 

Follow self-medication along with the medication prescribed by the physician to cure the cause; however, keep in mind to avoid antibiotics as they won’t work on this virus.
