Here’s how to avoid common winter illness

Winters bring along many diseases. No matter how strong your immune system is, you can’t stay away from the contagious diseases in the air.  With proper hygiene and some simple steps you can protect yourself from the common winter illness like flu, cold, cough etc.  Here are few tips to stay away from infections.

Sore throat: The most common winter illness caused by viral infections. Simply keep drinking warm water throughout the season and avoid icy cold drinks. In case you have a sore throat keep gargling with warm salty water and consult a doctor.

Joint Pains: Due to change in weather many complain about joint pains. Doctors’  focus on staying active, going for a walk and not sitting in the same position for a long duration. Also, regular massage of the joints with medicated cream or oil is essential.

Flu: Flu can occur anytime but in winters the chances are much higher and the common symptoms are high fever, runny nose, chills, fatigue, and body ache. Don’t take it lightly and consult a doctor as soon as you notice symptoms. For relief in running nose, body ache and light fever have an anti-fever medicine. Keep your hand’s germ-free and carry a sanitizer along.

Asthma attack: Asthma patient needs to be extra careful during the winter season to avoid worsening of the symptoms. Have your medicines daily and avoid stepping out in extreme cold. Always carry your inhaler and other medicines along to avoid any complications. Also, avoid cold drinks at night.

Cold hands and feet:  During winters the colour of your toes and fingers changes to blue, red or white due to poor blood circulations. To avoid it always keep your hands and feet well-covered. Wear woolen socks and gloves. Also avoid smoke and caffeine as this can worsen the condition.
