Red wine drinkers have another reason to be merry, red wine can ward off the cholesterol built from red meat.

According to scientists, red meat creates bad cholesterol which poses a heart risk. But the anti-oxidants in red wine, called polyphenols, prevent blood from absorbing the bad cholesterol.

Ron Kohen, from the Institute of Drug Research at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, said this is why red wine drinkers have a reduced heart disease risk.

So pick up a bottle of red the next time to indulge in red meat.
