Why we are not excited about the Kareena-Lakme collection

Here’s why we aren’t fans of the signature Kareena makeup line

Kareena at The LFW

Lakme was a bright name in the Indian makeup market eons ago it was known for it’s affordable makeup range. Last weekend Kareena Kapoor Khan became the first star to launch her makeup line at the Fashion Week and as much as we try, we are not excited! In the world where Rihanna’s Fenty Beauty or Kylie Jenner’s makeup makes us pay the exorbitant prices, I cannot do that for a brand like Lakme.

Kareena X Lakme

The main reason, the line as claimed by Lakme took about 2 years to curate looks very outdated, much like most of their collection. Also the product quality has always been an issue for me. What started as an affordable brand, today Lakme charges you above 1K for most of their products. Sadly the quality hasn’t changed and the quantity is miniscule.  The Kareena Kapoor Khan Lakme Absolute Pout Definer is priced at a whooping 1200 INR for a 2.5 gm product.

The foundation shade range especially in our country which has varied skin tones should be a lot more something that Lakme as an Indian brand has never indulged us in. The foundation stick in this range is proof enough with only 5 ‘fair’ variants.

Are you excited about the Lakme Kareena Kapoor Collection? We feel they are minting money on her name and she is happy with being the poster girl for her makeup line.
